You said you would do it and you did!
Thanks for the Care Home Report which my sister and I are going through over the weekend.
Thanks also for doing as you said you would and getting all this info to us on Friday afternoon as promised. Not everyone does as they say they will!! Your service is admirable.

A life line
Your service last week gave me a real life line among the chaos. The conversations you had with the care homes on our behalf, have paved the way perfectly. I will be eternally grateful and so will my dad.

Thank you so much for your help! As a result of the information you gave me over the phone and the Care Summary and literature you emailed me, we have been able to find Michael a great home. I don't know how we would have found these homes without your help. Thank you.

Thinking ahead worked!
My mother has been acting as my father’s main carer for over a year since he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. Unfortunately she had a fall on Monday and we were faced with a situation where we had to act fast to arrange for her to be taken care of and to look at immediate respite care in order that my father would also be looked after in a suitable care home which could cope with his needs. Luckily we had your report and had already viewed some of the care homes that you short-listed for us.
This meant that when the dust had settled i.e. ambulances and paramedics had left and GP’s appointment arranged, rather than having to panic we were ahead of the game. Rather than having to start from scratch we worked through your report and phoned the care homes on the list. Luckily on our 4th call we managed to find a suitable care home that had a vacancy and within hours had arranged an appmt. to view, discussed needs with the manager and secured the room. My father is now being looked after by professionals in a safe environment and I am able to breath a sigh of relief after a couple of pretty stressful days.
I have no doubt that without the report that you prepared for us and the advice you gave to go and see the homes on the list “just in case” we would not be in this position and I would probably still be tearing my hair out trying to get the situation sorted.
Thanks very much for your advice

Perfect for mum!
I had to call you this morning to thank you for your support and advice at a very difficult time.
Without having met me, or my Mum, Debbie understood exactly what was needed and the home she recommended was indeed perfect. When Dad and I visited we recognised immediately it was spot on for mum.
As a first step she is trying out another home that she has heard good things about - and we must respect her views - but I have Debbie and my preferred choice up my sleeve as a next step. I have recommended Chosen with Care to a friend in a similar position and would not hesitate to do so again. Thank you Debbie.

Finding hidden gems
Just a quick update – I’ve now visited all but one of the Nursing Homes in the report, and we have decided on Gloucester House in Sevenoaks, which Mum is happy with. It is actually 5 minutes from my Brother’s house, but we didn’t even know it was there so we are grateful for Chosen with Care for letting us know if it’s existence!
Mum moves in during week commencing 30th January, so she should be settled in in time for her Birthday so we will have a little ‘room-warming/birthday party’ that weekend.
I think that being so close to my brothers house will help her settle in and feel at home. thanks so much for your help.

Chosen with Care Seminar
At Chosen with Care we want to inform families, before there is a crisis, about the issues that need to be considered when you are looking for a care home. At a recent care event that we organised, we talked about everything to do with care. At the event we spoke to a lovely couple and received this testimonial -
'My Mum spoke to me for quite a while on Sunday, to say how impressed she had been and how glad they were they had gone along. Both my Nanna and Grandma had dementia before they died and my Uncle has it now. They did not know about the affect small strokes have on developing Dementia and following the advice they received, my Dad is going to attend his doctors and demand an MRI scan, as he had a stroke about a year ago.
Thank you from myself as well, this has been really helpfully for my parents.' Jonathan H.

You really did care...
Thank you so much with all your help in choosing a care home for my mother in law.
As I know you appreciate it is a very difficult time. My father in law died recently and my mother in law could not look after herself. It has been very stressful and your help at this time has been invaluable. I found that you really did care and were always there when we needed you.
I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone else.

An expert in unchartered water.
Now that my husband is beginning to settle into his care home, I wanted to write and thank you for all your help and expertise in finding a suitable care home for him at a time when I was finding life very difficult.
I do not think I could have managed without you. I appreciated your practical support in organising all the visits and even return visits with other members of my husband’s family.
Your knowledge of how to assess a home and to know what to look for in any assessment cut out hours of my time trying to understand reports, particularly at a time when I could not think straight. Your understanding of my emotional situation was a real blessing.
Although the care home we chose is not in my immediate neighbourhood, I am still convinced that it suits his needs and he will settle in well to this new environment.
To find an expert in the unchartered waters of care homes at a time of personal distress was wonderful.
Very many thanks.
With every good wish

Helping my friend too
"Thanks very much for your help Debbie. I have actually passed your details on to a relative of a close friend of mine who lives in in the west country but has a recently widowed mother with Alzheimer's living in Kent. The daughter has a demanding job, a husband and teenage children so I thought she might benefit from the services you are able to provide. Jill from Tonbridge".

Reduced Fees and really fast advice
We had a need to rapidly find a Home for my mother in law who has Alzheimer's. Chosen with Care provided a very prompt response and valuable advice on costs. My mother in law moved into a good Care Home only a week after our initial contact with Chosen with Care. A very good service.

A fast response
Firstly I want to say thank you ever so much for your hard work and response not to mention research in just a couple of days.
Words seem so small but your support and your actions have been a great help.

Lifted the burden from my shoulders
My wife Doreen is disabled and has Alzheimer's. If that were not enough, she recently fell and broke her arm! At that moment my life changed, as I was no longer able to continue caring for her.
A friend suggested that I talk to Debbie. We arranged a meeting at which she advised that I should have a plan for the future; we first agreed that the plan should be to get Doreen back home. Debbie recommend that I get Doreen out of hospital as soon as possible and into a care home for respite, advising me what to look for when selecting the home (vital). We further went into any requirements our own home might need to enable Doreen's safe return. Once home, Home Care will be needed, and Debbie again had all the contacts to provide this to meet my needs.
I will not go into other offerings on her menu - needless to say she has all the answers and was able to lift the burden from my shoulders at a very stressful time. A very big thank you Debbie as our plan is beginning to take shape.
A friend who really cares
Debbie Harris was introduced to me by my Solicitor. At that time I was finding it extremely hard trying to find a care home to take my husband who had very challenging behavioural problems and had been asked to leave his existing care home. Debbie worked for a month contacting homes, explaining the problems to them and where they thought they might be able to help, visiting the homes and arranging assessments. She eventually found somewhere willing to take him. She has always been at the end of the phone or on Email to help and support me and I feel I have a friend who really cares about me and my husband. I can't thank her enough.

Referral Fees - not for Chosen with Care
The Sunday Times newspaper has today exposed the referral scandal where agents receive huge commissions for referring clients suffering from addictions to companies who want access to those clients. Making this practice public is long overdue. Unfortunately is also prevalent in the care industry.
Chosen with Care does not take referral fees from any of the companies that it recommends. ...
